Ken Ingham Memorial Weekend
April 25 & 26, 2009

Welcome to the Ken Inham Memorial Invitation Weekend

The Albany Classics weekend is now an invitation weekend with a Prologue and the traditional Ken Ingham Memorial and has been designed to challenge all categories of road riders from A grade to E grade. Two races have been carefully developed to showcase what Albany has to offer; stunning scenery and great roads for racing, with light traffic conditions.

The races have a graded scratch format with two grades; Open (incorporating A& B grades); and Support (C, D and E grades). You may nominate up a grade from that at which you usually race, but not down.

On the Saturday, there will be a Prologue for both open and support grades.

Sunday's Ken Ingham Memorial is a classic road race: 100kms for Open grade riders and 77kms for the Support grade. Prevailing winds and small hill climbs make this more a race of strategy. Are you up for the challenge?

The Weekend

  • Two races incorporating stunning scenery and a wide variety of cycling conditions
  • Dinner at Motel Le Grande for riders and guests, Saturday night

ChipX

This year we will have our ChipX timing system in place, giving riders absolute certainty of their placing in a bunch finish, irrespective of how many riders are sprinting for the line. It's the same system as used in pro-tour events around the world.

Sunday April 26 2009

Registration and fitting of
transponders: From 0730

Start time: 0800am
Princess Royal Drive ANZAC Park

Open riders will ride to Denmark and return,
Support grade will ride to Youngs Siding and
return. Both grades start and finish at The Pines.
This is a strategic race where the rider will
encounter hills, long straight stretches, and
plenty of opportunities for breaking away from the peloton. The nature of the course increases the likelihood of a dramatic bunch sprint for the line.
